US – The United States Geological Survey (USGS) linked 114 remote earthquakes to the magnitude 8.6 East Indian Ocean quake that occurred April 11, 2012.

PEMBUKAAN THE 11TH ASIA PACIFIC CONFERENCE ON EMERGENCY AND DISASTER MEDICINE
Kegiatan ini dibuka pada hari Rabu, tanggal 26 September 2012 bertempat di Cakrawala Hall, Discovery Kartika Plaza Hotel, Kuta Bali. Acara diawali dengan penampilan tari Garuda yang merupakan tarian khas Bali.
Sambutan pertama disampaikan oleh Dr. Abdil Radjak, selaku President The Asia – Pacific Conference on Emergency and Disaster Medicine (APCEDM). Dalam pidato sambutan, beliau menyampaikan bahwa telah dilaksanakan kegiatan Pre-Conference dengan 2 topik besar, yaitu 1) Evaluation and Research in Disaster Health dan 2) Standarization, Registration and Accreditation for Foreign and National Medical Team. Kedua topic tersebut diangkat berdasarkan kasus-kasus yang ada di Indonesia agar dapat menstimulus penelitian yang ada di Indonesia berdasarkan kerangka konsep penelitian bencana. Selain itu, juga untuk menstandarisasi tim luar negeri yang datang ke Indonesia yang dipelajari dari kejadian Aceh, Jepang, dan negara lain yang pernah mengalami bencana besar. Peran penting dari keperawatan juga akan dibahas dalam pertemuan kali ini. Dan berharap melalui kegiatan ini, akan bisa memperkuat kemampuan komunitas dan masyarakat dalam menghadapi suasana bencana pada masa tanggap darurat bencana dan kegawatan kesehatan.
Sambutan kedua oleh Prof Yamanoto dari Jepang, yang diwakili oleh Nurifumi, beliau menyampaikan bahwa pada kegiatan ini mereka mensupport karena akan memberikan banyak pengetahuan baru dan menjadi ajang dalam pertukaran dan sharing pengalaman dalam penanggulangan bencana. Selanjutnya oleh Paul Arbon, selaku President of World Asosiation Disaster Emergency Medicine (WADEM).
Menteri Kesehatan, H.E.Dr. Nafsiah Mboy, secara resmi membuka kegiatan APCEDM ke-11 ini dengan memberikan Keynote Speaker pembukaan, beliau menyampaikan bahwa di Indonesia merupakan tempat yang rawan terhadap kejadian bencana, termasuk didalamnya megadisaster (bencana besar), sehingga diperlukan beberapa strategi dalam upaya pengelolaan bencana kesehatan dan untuk melakukan manajemen dalam kegiatan tersebut, salah satunya dengan peningkatan integrasi dari lintas program dan listas sector termasuk didalamnya bagaimana peningkatan komunikasi dan jejaring (networking) dalam penanggulangan bencana. Selain itu, juga melalui pembentukan 9 regional Pusat Penanggulangan bencana yang tersebar pada 9 daerah. Karena diharapkan melalui 9 regional tersebut, akan meningkatkan upaya koordinasi dan penanggulangan bencana dan bisa menjadi sentral manajemen bencana untuk daerah yang ada di wilayah regional tersebut. Dengan strategi tersebut. maka dilakukan berbagai upaya yaitu dengan penguatan manajemen bencana termasuk didalamnya kegiatan preparedness (kesiapsiagaan), tanggap darurat bencana dan pasca bencana kegiatan lain yang perlu diperhatikan adalah mengenai pengorganisasian dan pelaksanaan kegiatan pelatihan baik local, nasional maupun internasional dalam manajemen bencana.
Dengan berakhirnya pemberian keynote dari Menteri Kesehatan, maka kegiatan APCEDM ke-11 dibuka secara resmi dengan pemukulan Gong oleh Menteri Kesehatan dan didampingi oleh President of APCEDM, President of WADEM, Prof. Marvin Birnbaun, Kepala Pusat Penanggulangan Bencana dan Beberapa Delegasi dari Negara luar.

Gunung Marapi di Sumbar Meletus, Status Waspada
Jakarta – Gunung Marapi di Sumatera Barat (Sumbar) meletus. Gunung Marapi kini berstatus waspada. “Waspada Marapi, Sumbar, pada pukul 16.39 WIB telah terjadi erupsi Gunung Marapi, dengan suara dentuman terdengar hingga jarak 16 km (dari laporan masyarakat). Asap letusan mencapai maksimum 1,5 km dari puncak,” ujar kepala Badan Vulkanologi dan Mitigasi Bencana (BVMBG), Surono, kepada detikcom, Rabu (26/9/2012).
